What Causes Mold in a Crawl Space?
Mold growth in crawl spaces results from excess moisture, poor ventilation, and organic materials that provide food sources for mold spores. High humidity levels above 60%, water leaks, and inadequate air circulation create ideal conditions for mold development. Standing water from plumbing leaks, groundwater intrusion, or condensation on cold surfaces accelerates mold growth throughout the space. Our specialists identify these moisture sources and implement targeted solutions to eliminate mold-friendly conditions permanently.

Why did the customer contact us?
The crawl space was wet and it had puddling throughout. The standing water under the floor was causing musty odors to permeate the space and you could smell the dampness upstairs in the kitchen and living room.
What challenges did we face?
The crawl space was very low…less than 32 inches of headroom. So the process was challenging to install the sump pump and foam.
Solutions provided:
Reed’s Waterproofing and Foundation Services lined the walls of the crawl space with 2 inches of foam. Rim joists were covered in 4 inches of the same foam, sealing air and preventing leaks from the crawl space. A sump pump was installed to ensure no future standing water would occur.
