Job completed for Metal Building Insulation in Sidney, KY

Completion date:

2019-07-23

Location:

Sidney,

KY

Why did the customer contact us?

This Sidney, KY owner had a new metal building and needed an effective air seal and vapor barrier.

Solutions provided:

We insulated the exterior walls with 2 inches of closed-cell spray foam on the bottom 3 feet and 3.5 inches of open-cell spray foam through the rest of the cavity. We then shaved the foam and cleaned the studs where needed so finishing could go ahead. Spray foam bonds to metal building surfaces and conforms to irregular shapes for an effective air seal.

Why metal buildings sweat in Sidney, KY

Summer heat in the Kentucky mountains makes roofs and upper floors some of the hottest spaces in a building, and that heat has nowhere to go without insulation. Metal roofs and walls are cold in winter and hot in summer, and warm humid air that touches a cool metal panel condenses on it and drips, which is the “sweating” that damages tools, vehicles and stored goods. Pole barns and metal garages are full of seams, fasteners and panel ribs that leak air unless they are sealed. Spray foam bonds directly to the metal, so there is no air space behind the insulation for condensation to form.
