Open cell spray foam was applied directly to the roof deck in this new construction project, providing an R value of R38. This will seal off all ridge vents, gable vents, and soffit vents. The wall cavities were filled with open cell spray foam insulation as well. 2 inches of closed cell foam was applied to the basement walls. Unlike traditional insulation, spray foam insulation fills every nook and cranny, providing a complete air seal. For this reason, this home will be more comfortable and energy efficient and the homeowner will recoup their investment in energy savings over the next several years.
